I am not a Facebook member/user largely because of the information laid out in this post. For me the wholesale offering of my information to both Facebook and their “partners” is far more than I am comfortable providing anyone. Yes, I know, privacy as we knew it is largely gone today, but that certainly does not mean that we ought to make it any easier for folks to market to us, annoy us, or potentially steal from us. It is Facebook’s most recent revisions/updates that make me glad that I didn’t jump on this bandwagon back in the days “when you just had to have an account.” I almost feel as though I dodged a bullet vs. missing out on any of the things that people tell me that I am missing out on by not being on Facebook. To each his own.
